About Yin Yang
The YinYang product range was designed and formulated by skincare expert, Katie May.
With a background in the food industry, she began formulating her own range of beauty care products in 1972. Using food ingredients in the formulations was simply a natural progression from her professional background. If it's not good enough to eat, why would you wish to put it on your skin? Especially when you know it will be absorbed into the body, just as readily as if you had consumed it.
Katie is adamant that the ingredients should be as pure and natural as possible.

While the YinYang range was developed and continues to be manufactured in England, it was inspired by the ancient Chinese philosophy of ‘Yin’ and ‘Yang’, used to explain the changes that occur in nature.
This philosophy is described by the Yin Yang symbol: the black and white shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two opposing yet complementary energies, Yin (black) and Yang (white), which cause everything in nature to happen. While Yin would be dark, passive, downward, cold, contracting, and weak, Yang would be bright, active, upward, hot, expanding, and strong. The ancient Chinese observed the principle of opposites in the natural events around them: day and night, light and darkness, waking and sleeping, activity and rest, summer and winter, growth and decay, man and woman, hot and cold, heaven and earth, sun and moon, etc. The interlocking shapes of the Yin and Yang sections of the symbol actually give a sense of the continual movement of these two energies and their interrelationship. And so the concept of Yin and Yang shows how harmony is achieved by nature’s opposing forces.
Just as the YinYang symbol reflects the idea of perfection in nature, so does our range of unique natural skincare products. Thus, inspired by ancient Chinese philosophy, our motto is ‘Naturally Balanced Perfection’.

Yin Yang skincare products are natural, and are made with carefully selected ingredients sourced from organic or wild-crafted suppliers. The line includes a basic Cleanser, Toner and a whole range of Moisturisers. YinYang Moisturisers cater for every skin type and age, allowing each user to follow a tailor-made beauty regime just right for their skin condition.
What makes this range all the more appealing is that many ingredients have therapeutic properties dealing with such generalised complaints as pain, inflammation, skin conditions and hormonal imbalance.
YinYang products contain a high proportion of edible plant ingredients which preserve young skin and rejuvenate ageing skin. This is achieved by using naturally acidic ingredients – organic apple cider vinegar, organic soya (providing 20 amino acids) and plant enzymes. During the last decade, the addition of organic or wild crafted herbs has provided us with products that are seriously remedial – perhaps most significantly the Four Herb Cream, Wild Yam Cream and MSM Cream.

Utmost care is taken at every stage of the manufacturing process, starting with the selection of plants grown without contamination from pesticides or pollution. Herbal infusions are made using spring water, which are then combined with the pure base. The absence of artificial chemicals preserves the herbal and enzyme properties of the plants and the results speak for themselves.
Katie May insists that her range is different from any other. Not only are detergents not used in the products, they are also avoided when cleaning down the equipment. For this, organic apple cider vinegar is used and has been found to be most effective.

Consumers are not short of ‘natural’ products available to them, all claiming to be full of herbs and vitamins. However, many of these are thinly disguised regular detergents with a hint of herb to give them that ‘natural’ overtone. What sets Yin Yang products apart is that they are free from petrochemical derivatives such as propylene glycol, methylparaben, mineral oil, isopropyl alcohol, sodium lauryl sulphate and formaldehyde. This makes them truly natural to the high degree that people are actually looking for.
Most of the ingredients used in regular toiletries and cosmetics are harmful. The chemicals are absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream. Some are so alien to the body that the liver has no effective way of eliminating them, so they accumulate. In fact, investigations have linked the use of many cosmetic ingredients to an increased risk of cancer, while laboratory research has also demonstrated many ingredients to be carcinogenic. Many others are irritating to the skin, eyes, and lungs, causing rashes, allergic reactions, dry flaky skin and hair loss. Many ingredients are connected to respiratory disorders, including asthma.
Sensitive individuals can suffer from systemic effects, which can cause nausea, dizziness, vomiting, headaches, chronic fatigue, insomnia, chest pain and depression. The typical ingredients of the soap, perfumery and cosmetic trade are derived from petroleum. Some products are purely petroleum or mineral oil derived, such as Vaseline or baby oil. From the media image we are lead to believe that it is so safe and natural it can be applied to a baby’s skin. These unnatural oils strip the skin of its own natural oil, are absorbed into the skin and are difficult for the body to eliminate. Talcum powder, another baby ‘essential’, is a well known carcinogen and a major cause of ovarian cancer.
When sprinkled onto a baby during nappy changing the talc can travel to the womb and trigger cancer in later life. Yin Yang products contain no petroleum-based ingredients, are lanolin-free, do not contain nitrosamine precursors or synthetic ingredients of any kind and are free of carcinogens. The benefits of using our range are numerous: Our products are suitable for anyone with allergies, are environmentally-friendly and do not pose the same long-term health risks as many conventional skin products. What’s more, they are 100% vegetarian, include organic and wild-crafted ingredients where possible and are all hand-made.
So when we say natural, we mean natural!
